Financial Accountant Job Description

We generally look for Financial Accountants on behalf of our clients due to expansion within the business or as a replacement. We also recruit for Interim Financial Accountants. Financial Accountants usually report to the Financial Controller or Finance Director.

Experience working in one of our specialist fields would be highly beneficial;

Real Estate / Property / Construction / Retail / Asset Management / Private Equity / Telecoms / Media / Technology / Legal / Oil & Gas / Corporate Finance

Financial Accountant Key Responsibilities

• Preparation of the monthly and annual board pack

• Preparation of the statutory pack included the P&L, Balance Sheet

• Business partnering with relevant managers within the company in order to provide financial support and information

• Liaising with and reporting to the Financial Controller or Finance Director

• Managing and developing other accountancy staff

• Preparing monthly statements inclusive of analysing and investigating variances and summarising data

• Prepares quarterly and annual statements by assembling data

• Liaising with auditors to ensure the draft statutory accounts are correct

• Assembling data for quarterly and annual tax filings

• Provides financial advice by studying operational issues; applying financial principles and practices; developing recommendations

• Keeping abreast of some tax related issues

Financial accountant Skills & Requirements

• ACA, CIMA or ACCA Qualified

• Good understanding of month end procedures

• Staff management background

• Excellent communicator

• Proven ability of working under pressure

• Strong IT skills

Remuneration

Salaries for a Financial accountant vary depending on experience and company size:

• Financial accountants in a £500m+ business should expect a salary between £50,000 to £60,000

• Financial accountants in a <£500m business should expect a salary between £35,000 to £55,000

Career Progression

Most Financial accountants would look to take the natural step to Financial Controller with 2 to 5 years solid experience behind them. Alternatively FP&A positions would be good options further down the line.
