Finance Manager Job Description

We generally look for Finance Managers on behalf of our clients due to expansion within the business or as a replacement. Finance Managers usually report to the Financial Controller or Finance Director.

Experience working in one of our specialist fields would be highly beneficial;

Real Estate / Property / Construction / Retail / Asset Management / Private Equity / Telecoms / Media / Technology / Legal / Oil & Gas / Corporate Finance

Finance Manager Key Responsibilities

• Business partnering with relevant managers within the company in order to provide financial support and information
• Liaising with and reporting to the Financial Controller
• Overseeing preparation of the management accounts pack, inclusive of the monthly P&L and balance sheet
• Managing and developing other accountancy staff
• Updating the annual forecast monthly
• Preparing the annual budget
• Preparation of statutory accounts
• Maintain the VAT
• Improving controls and procedures
• Depending on the size of the organisation this role may be more hands
• Full month end procedures

Finance Manager Skills & Requirements

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA Qualified
• Good understanding of month end procedures
• Staff management background
• Excellent communicator
• Proven ability of working under pressure
• Strong IT skills

Remuneration

Salaries for a Finance Manager vary depending on experience and company size:                                                                                                                  

Finance Managers in a £500m+ business should expect a salary between £50,000 to £60,000                                                                                                

Finance Managers in a <£500m business should expect a salary between £35,000 to £55,000

Career Progression

Most Finance Managers would look to take the natural step to Financial Controller with 2 to 5 years solid experience behind them. Alternatively FP&A positions and FD roles are other options further down the line.
